Laboratoire Bio-PeroxIL - EA 7270

X-ALD Biobank- Dijon

biologie3

A biobank is a facility that stores biological samples (tissues, cells, biological fluids, etc.) in optimal conditions of quality and safety. The stored samples come from patients or healthy subjects who have given their written consent. These samples are used for medical analyses, not only for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases, but also to evaluate the efficacy of treatments. A biobank is thus very important to improve our understanding of diseases and in particular rare diseases. Indeed, by gathering several samples from patients with rare diseases, analyses can be conducted on a sufficient number of samples to improve our understanding of diseases and thus improve treatments.

This biobank is now operational. The samples that will be stored there will lead to better understanding of the pathophysiology of X-ALD, a peroxysomal demyelinating disease that is rapidly fatal in its severest form.
